Respiratory Issues/infections (such as RSV)
Cause/Symptoms: Virus. Can cause colds, bronchiolitis, bronchitis, croup, pneumonia, and ear infections. Most common in children < 2 years old
Transmission: Person to person by direct or indirect contact with respiratory secretions.
Incubation: 2 to 8 days, usually 4 to 6 days.
Period of Communicability: Usually 3 to 8 days from onset of symptoms, but may continue for as long as 3 to 4 weeks.
Your child can return to daycare once all the following criteria has been meet:
~ your child is breathing fine
~ you provide a dr.'s note stating: your child is safe to be around other children (as young as 10m) and adults
~ your child can eat and drink normally
~ your child can participate in all daycare activities
~ 48 hours after first dose of antibiotics (if taken)
This can mean your child might be home 72 hours or longer before being able to return to daycare
