Your child is required to remain at home.

- Bacteria
- Symptoms include sudden onset of headache, fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and sometimes vomiting
Transmission:
- Fecal-oral route, either by direct contact with an infected person or indirectly through ingestion of contaminated food
- Pets (iguanas, turtles, sometimes cats and dogs) and farm animals are another common source of infection
Incubation:
- 6 to 72 hours, usually 12 to 36 hours
Period of Communicability:
- Infection and last four to seven days or up to several weeks /months after onset of symptoms
Your child can return to daycare once all the following criteria has been meet:
- Your child can eat and drink normally
- Your child can participate in all daycare activities
- A doctors note stating your child is no longer contagious is required
- At least 6 days have passed since the onset of symptoms/diagnosis
- The daycare diarrhea policy has been followed
- The daycare fever policy has been followed
- The daycare vomiting policy has been followed
Your child is required to remain home for at least six (6) days, if not longer.
