Cause/Symptoms:

Period of Communicability:
- Virus
- Can cause colds, bronchitis, bronchitis, croup, pneumonia, and ear infections
- Most common in children over 2 years old
Transmission:
- Person to person by direct or indirect contact with respiratory secretions
Incubation:
- 2 to 8 days, usually 4 to 6 days
Period of Communicability:
- Usually 3 to 8 days from onset of symptoms, but may continue for as long as 3 to 4 weeks
We can discuss your child's return to daycare once all the following criteria has been met:
- Your child is breathing fine
- A doctors note stating that the issue/infection is not contagious
- Your child can eat and drink normally
- Your child can participate in all daycare activities
- 48 hours after first dose of antibiotics (if taken)
- At least 72 hours have passed since the onset of symptoms/diagnosis
Your child is required to remain home for at least seventy-two (72) hours, if not longer.
