Pinworm Treatment:
- Pinworm medicines are available with a prescription or without one such as Pin-X. Your doctor will decide which one is best for your child. Take as directed,
- Give a repeat dose of the pinworm medicine in 2 weeks. Reason: To prevent the pinworms from coming back,
- The repeat dose is needed because eggs can live for 1 to 2 weeks. Temperature and humidity levels also affect how long the eggs can stay alive.
We can discuss your child's return to daycare, once all the following criteria has been met:
- 48 hrs after the last treatment,
- All the worms/eggs are 100% gone,
- At least 18 days have passed since the onset of symptoms/diagnosis.
Your child is required to remain home for at least eighteen (18) days, if not longer.
